The project “Life champions against peer violence” continues to bring together sports clubs that want to contribute to solving this social problem through their example. This time, support was provided by the Kuršumlija basketball club and basketball players, emphasizing the importance of sport as a space for cultivating tolerance and respect among young people.

During one of the training sessions, the club’s youth, together with their coaches, discussed different forms of peer violence. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of team spirit and mutual support, both on and off the court. The coaches shared personal examples from their sports careers, encouraging young people to recognize violence and have the courage to report it if it occurs.

“Basketball is not just a sport; it is a school of life. On the field, we learn how to be a team, how to respect others and how to overcome challenges. I am proud that the very club in which I achieved various successes recognized the initiative. I am glad that they agreed to be part of a project that supports young people in the fight against peer violence. We want to show that sport can be a safe place for everyone,” said Veljko Avramović, an associate of the organization and a former basketball player of the Kuršumlija basketball club.

The “Life champions against peer violence” project is supported by the Cabinet of the Minister without portfolio in charge of coordination of the activities in the field of gender equality, fighting violence against women and the economic and political empowerment of women. We thank the city and the club for their desire to show their commitment to making sport a space without discrimination, where every young person can feel safe and accepted.
