With the support from the School sports section from Kuršumlija, pupils of “Miloje Zakić” elementary school held a discussion during the section on the problem of peer violence, emphasizing the importance of open communication and mutual trust among young people. Apart from pupils, the discussion was also attended by teachers, who were role models for young people and showed that they could always turn to adults they trust. Some of the problems that young people pointed out that exist were neglect and discrimination during the game, even though the teachers always that sport is a game for everyone and that this is the only correct way to approach children and young people.
“As a sports section, our duty is to be an example to young people, not only in sports, but also in the way we deal with challenges in life. We are glad to be recognized by the project “Life champions against peer violence” and to be able to contribute to its goals. Every young person deserves to feel safe and to know that there are people who are there to support them,” said elementary school teacher Mirjana Palibrk.
We would like to thank „Miloje Zakić“ Elementary School for their active participation and for showing how sport can be a powerful tool in the fight against peer violence. Their example is an inspiration to young people to open up, talk and build better relationships in their community.
The project “Life champions against peer violence” is supported by the Cabinet of the Minister without Portfolio responsible for coordinating activities in the area of gender equality, prevention of violence against women, and the economic and political empowerment of women.
